Black Cement 3s Live On

This post is dedicated to all the sneaker lovers out there. The sneaker game is way over-saturated in recent years, and it continues to grow. It feels like every week there’s a new Jordan drop (if not a signature line, then a new colorway), or Adidas is dropping some new Heat EQT or NMD colorway. We’re in a time with no signs of slowing down, where sneakerheads have to make the right decisions about which shoes to cop.

In a perfect world, I’d cop the newest colorways every week without any issue. I’d buy resale for kicks that I really wanted rather than being too prideful to buy resale (I just can’t force myself to do it, can you?). With all that, when I heard that the Black Cement 3s were being retro’d again and dropped in February, I knew I had to have them.

The Jordan 3s were released in 1988, and were the first time that the Jordan logo appeared on any Jordan brand shoe, the work of genius designer Tinker Hatfield. Fastforward a few years, and the Black Cement 3s were re-released as a retro in 1994. It was then re-released again in 2001, 2008, 2011, and now 2018.

30 years after the original BCs were released with much more similarity to the originals in 1988, down to the Nike swoosh on the back instead of the Jordan logo and the the worn in leather look.

Personally, my favorite part of the shoe is the Nike swoosh on the back rather than the Jumpman logo just because I like to replicate the classics as much as I can. And of course, the classic elephant print that gives it the unique touch.
