2013-2014 Season Summary

The 2013-2014 season has brought many new revelations about the game of basketball to the World. As the San Antonio Spurs proved once again that team basketball is the easiest, and arguably the prettiest, way to win a Championship, the Miami Heat imploded with one of the worst performances by a team made of former and current All-Stars. This post isn’t meant to criticize the Heat, because let’s face it, 4 straight trips to the Finals is a stellar feat on its own. This post is to remind us of some of the most entertaining parts of the season that we just went through. The Lakers, who have always been a dominant team, are now entering the lottery. The Clippers, have gone to become LA’s team and Kevin Durant managed to pry the MVP from LeBron’s hands.

The Lakers’ season has been far from ideal and it may get worse depending on this off-season’s transactions and lottery pick. However, that being said, the 2013-2014 Lakers brought excitement and fast-paced basketball to the floor. Despite having an extremely low record, they brought us lots and laughs and can their season can be summarized by this one play from start Guard Nick Young:

He’s not on the floor for us to see, but this was Kobe’s first game back from the Achilles injury…needless to say, everyone in LA wants to know what he thought about the shot.

In a rookie class full of players who are bound to be good role players at best, the NBA community found itself lost without having new great players to watch and haze. It was a certain fall from the year before when we were fortunate to have Damian Lillard, Bradley Beal, and Anthony Davis. However, that’s not to say this past draft class will have nothing to offer. Easily shown by MCW’s first game of his career getting 9 steals against the Heat, and then Mason Plumlee’s game winning block on LeBron:

And who can forget some of the best dunks we’ve had all season. Terrence Ross’ monster poster on Faried, Blake murdering Kris Humphries, and Paul George’s 360 windmill all headline the list of top 10 dunks from this season.

Yep, this year has been pretty good in the NBA. We missed out on Kobe and Nash (again), we missed Kevin Garnett getting any significant playing time during the regular season, and Dwayne Wade continued to rest for the playoffs, but we got many highlights and memories from young players in the league. Now, on to the draft preparation!
